The Nigerian troops located at Goniri in Gujba local government area of Yobe state, have dealt a deadly blow to Boko Haram terrorists after foiling a heavy attack launched by the group on trucks this week.   The insurgents had in recent times intensified attacks on military bases and overran a military base in Kukareta, a village located about 20 kilometres to Damaturu, Yobo state, where they killed 13 soldiers and a police officer. “There has been wild celebration in Goniri currently, none of the insurgents ran away. The police have dismissed 121 of at least 167 police officers who absconded after being deployed to fight Boko Haram insurgents last week,Premium Times reports. The 121 officers of the police rank-and-file were accused of committing mutiny and desertion, prompting Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris to order their dismissal with immediate effect. A directive has gone out for several police units where the dismissed officers were attached to immediately retrieve all police equipment in their possession and remove them from payrolls, according to a December 26 signal. The 167 police officers were amongst the 2,000 sent on a counter-insurgency training at the Nigerian Army Special Forces Training School in Buni Yadi, Yobe State. Scores of them disappeared after learning that they would be deployed in active combat against Boko Haram in communities where the insurgents are still virulent, as against relatively peaceful settlements like Maiduguri metro area.

American rapper and actor,  DMX  is set to be released from jail next month after getting an getting an early release. DMX’s attorney, Murray Richman, is quoted to have revealed that the American rapper will be released from Gilmer Federal Correctional Institution on Jan. 27, and he’s excited about coming home to his family and resuming his rap and movie career after serving a 12-month sentence for tax evasion. DMX, who has 15 children, has been writing lots of songs in prison and he’s planning to drop a new album when he’s released, according to TMZ. In an earlier report from TMZ, prosecutors originally wanted to give X a five-year sentence in his tax evasion case. This was to make sure the rapper never did it again. It also came after he failed a drug test while out on bond. In the end, DMX will have served less than a year but will be supervised closely for the next three years.

A grieving man was, today, stopped from entering the grave of his bosom friend, Comrade Godgift, during his burial in Bayelsa. Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West District in the National Assembly, has vowed not be silent in speaking the truth, nor will he be coerced into supporting any presidential candidate aside that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Unknown gunmen killed at least five villagers in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state in a late night ambush.   Mathias Tyopev, spokesman of the state police command, said the incident happened on Wednesday at Pugu village. He said the gunmen attacked the villagers while they were returning from a birthday party at about 9pm.   Barkin Ladi was one of the worst hit councils when suspected herdsmen killed at least 100 people in Plateau state some months ago. He added that two persons were injured in the attack and that they are currently receiving medical treatment.   The statement read: “On the 27/12/2018 at about 0800hrs the Plateau State Police Command received information from Kim Timothy the Youth Leader of Rawuru Village, Fan District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State that on the 26/12/2018 at about 2115hrs some unknown gunmen attacked some people when they were returning from a birthday party from Pugu Vill...

Frontline entertainment company and record label, Ericmany Entertainment has won a N14,000,000 suit filed against it and its act Douglas Jack Agu (aka Runtown) by the Dynamic Minds League. The suit was for claim of damages against Ericmany for a ‘no-show’ by Runtown at a carnival in Anambra State organized by the group in January 2015. The case, Suit No LD/ADR/251/2015, was filed on 19th August, 2015 by the Anambra group through its leader, Mr. Chizuo Anetoh. 190 police officers who were being trained for the war against Boko Haram in the North East, have absconded. A statement from the force says the fleeing officers were being trained in Buni Yadi, Yobe state when they absconded. A ‘Police Wireless Message’ sent from the Force Headquarters to MOPOLS in 22 states, says an order has been issued for the immediate arrest of the absconding officers. The policemen comprised personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Counter Terrorism Units (CTU), as well as those of the Force and the Sniffer Dog Sections.
