Our first impression of MC’s thrilling new mixtape
While Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment captured the gooey synths and sultry piano plunks of the Views cut, they dropped the uptempo percussion and opened the song up for Chance, who delivered Drake’s love-weary lyrics in a charming croak. Towards the end of the song however, Chance began to flub the lyrics, cheekily crooning “You don’t feel no way, on purpose/ I’m messing up all of Drake’s words on purpose,” but still deftly led the band through a flawless transition into the Donnie Trumpet cut, “Windows.”
